You need to have the necessary qualifications if you want to be a professional real estate appraiser. Although an associate’s degree is usually enough, most real estate appraisers start their career with a bachelor’s degree. Aside from having to get the proper certification to begin your career as a real estate appraiser, you must also take further courses in order to maintain your certification.
Among the tasks you will be completing regularly as a real estate appraiser includes visiting residential or commercial properties, depending on which type of property you are specializing in. You will then do a thorough inspection of the property and its surrounding area, taking its current conditions and unique characteristics into considerations. Of course, you will also determine the actual value of the property you are appraising based on your inspection before releasing an official report.
When you start a career as a real estate appraiser, you will most likely be a trainee. You can then progress further in your career and eventually reach the position of senior appraiser or supervisor.
